Flu Treatment

What is a Flu Treatment?

The Urgent Care doctors at NAEMC are board-certified and have considerable experience working with patients of all ages. If you have the flu, our doctors will work closely with physician assistants and nurse practitioners to help you feel better as soon as possible.

Influenza (the flu) shares symptoms with the common cold, but it is a more serious viral infection. The influenza virus is a highly contagious respiratory infection that affects the sinuses, throat, and lungs. Each year, the influenza A and B viruses cause a seasonal flu outbreak in the United States.

Causes & Treatment

The Flu's Diagnosis

Using “influenza diagnostics tests,” you may diagnose the flu in as little as 15 minutes. During the test, a member of our urgent care team will swab the inside of your nose or the back of your throat to collect a sample that will be examined on the spot. Symptoms of influenza viruses, unlike the typical cold, include:

Illness that appears out of nowhere

It’s a fever (High temperature)

Chills

Throat irritation

Nose congestion or runny nose

Aches and pains in the body

Exhausted and fatigued to the point of exhaustion

Diarrhea or vomiting (more common in children)
